Ethos Landscapes FAQs

This page lists some of the common questions we receive about our services and our process. If you cannot find your answer in this Ethos Landscapes FAQs page, feel free to reach out to us regarding your specific questions.

How do we start the process?

Review our custom landscape architecture package options online or reach out to us for a discussion on the different options. Once you select a package, we will begin the process.  The first step will include us getting to know you and the property.  From there we will proceed to the design phase. Visit our Design Services page for more info.

How are you different from an online landscape design company?

We offer trusted, local design and construction expertise. In addition, our company is able to provide signed and sealed landscape construction drawings that can be installed exactly as designed.  Whereas, online design companies never see the site in person, never meet you, and only provide conceptual level drawings that you then give to a contractor to determine the final construction and installation decisions.

Where do you offer design services?

As a Florida Registered Landscape Architect company, we offer design services throughout the State of Florida.  However, we primarily provide services to customers in Jacksonville, Florida and surrounding areas of North Florida. We can make recommendations for design firms located in other areas if requested.

How does the design process work?

Our standard design package process is simple! Here are the steps:
1. Select your package.
2. Respond to our questionnaire and send us inspirational photos.
3. Conduct our initial consultation to discuss goals, budget, preferences, and visit the site.
4. Review and comment on the preliminary design.
5. We will revise the design and send you a final design.
6. Build it! Either do-it-yourself, hire us, or hire another contractor!

What site features can you design into our project?

Outdoor patios, seatwalls, steps, firepits, outdoor kitchens, pools, spas, benches, trellis, pergolas, decks, fences, walkways, driveways, rain gardens, and of course, landscaping. These are some typical features. Looking for something else? Let us know.

Is there a minimum size property lot that you work with?

We can work with any size project, large or small.  However, our standard landscape architecture and landscape design packages are intended for lot sizes of ½ acre or less.  If you have a larger lot size, please contact us! We will work with you to create a custom quote based on your needs.

What if I have a limited budget?

We can create landscape architecture and landscape designs that meet any budget.  As part of our onboarding process, we will discuss budget and prioritize your goals.  We will focus on providing your high priority ticket items first.  You may also choose to install the design in stages or phases.  This method works well with the drawings we provide.

Can you use features that I currently have on my property?

Yes, as part of our initial discussions and site visit, we identify site features, elements, and existing vegetation you would like to preserve and include in the final landscape design.

If I have questions, who do I talk to about my project?

You will always have direct communications with a Professional Landscape Architect.  We take pride in offering our clients that value of a trusted, licensed expert. Visit our Contact page for info.

How long does it take to complete the design?

Completion time depends upon the complexity of the project.  We will set clear schedule expectations at our initial meeting and work together to meet your needs.

Can your drawings be used for permitting purposes?

Yes, as Florida Registered Landscape Architects, we can provide signed and sealed construction drawings for permitting within the State of Florida.

Can you install the final design?

Depending upon the size and complexity, we can install and build select landscaping projects.  For larger, more complex projects with specialty construction, Ethos Landscapes can recommend other reputable local contractors. Our Installation page describes our current installation services offered.

Do you provide free revisions to the design?

For our standard design packages, we offer a single round of revisions.  They are a natural part of the design process and want you to be happy with the product.  We will gladly provide additional revisions for an additional fee.  Our more complex projects have a different design and review process built in. Let us know if you need more information.

What payment types do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, and credit card payments through our online invoicing system.

When is payment due?

Our standard payment schedule requires an initial retainer payment equal to 50% of the design fee, with the remaining 50% being due at completion and delivery of the final design.
